Good News!

Heaven is a free gift that we do not deserve and cannot earn...

God saved you by his grace when you believed.  And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.  Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.  (Ephesians 2:8-9, New Living Translation)

We are all sinners, incapable of saving ourselves from our sins...

Everyone has sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard.  (Romans 3:23, New Century Version)

There is no one who always does what is right, not even one.  There is no one who understands.  There is no one who looks to God for help.  All have turned away. Together, everyone has become useless.  There is no one who does anything good; there is not even one."  (Romans 3:10-12, New Century Version)

God is merciful, but He must punish sin...

...the wages of sin is death...  (Romans 6:23, New International Version)

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid for our sins that we might have eternal life...

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.  Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.  But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.  (Romans 5:6-8, New Living Translation)

We must trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation from sin and its penalty...

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved.  We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God.  And we declare with our mouths that we believe, and so we are saved.  (Romans 10:9-10, New Century Version)
